Project 8 Brochure

Front Inside Back

  1. Description: The project was to create a brochure for anything. I chose to do one as an informational information security brochure.
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): Most of this project was made in indesign however all the pictures were edited in photoshop and cropped so that they would fit better. IN indesign I made a Paragraph style for the Heading and the Body Copy. The heading used OCR A STD as a font and the Body copy was Rockwell. I was able to wrap the text around the objects by using the text wrap tool. To get the background I placed the image and then added a transparent white box over it so you would be able to read the text and not have to much disturbance. I went through a lot of different themes for this project but decide that a finger print would go over quite nicely because many people don’t think about what they leave on the web.
  3. Message: The message is that there is a risk associated with the internet that everyone has to accept.
  4. Audience: This piece is aimed toward those who don’t understand the risk of the internet and want to know a little more.
  5. Top Thing Learned: Design takes a lot of time. Doing this project was not just a one hour thing it was day after day of thinking and planning how I could communicate my message better.
  6. Color scheme and color names: Tetradic, Red, Yellow, Blue
  7. Title Font Name & Category: OCR A STD- Serif
  8. Copy Font Name & Category: Rockwell- Serif

Project 7 Web Page

P7JoshBrownScreenShot

Description: This is a project we were assigned to use html and css to design a static web page.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): As I didn’t want to download Netbeans I decided to create this using notepad++. The Html was very simple to code as there were no real requirements other than having an image and words. The css was also very simple but was a good refreshes to learn. The background image I used was edited in Photoshop so it would be a little transparent. The banner across the top is of a picture and resides in the header div. I gave each of the subjects or text boxes a div and background so you would be able to see them better.

Message: BackDoor security is a company that does information security contract work.

Audience: Those in need of information security.

Top Thing Learned: It is hard to use an editor that is not made for web pages also it is hard to make a good website without php.

Title Font Families & Category:  Julius Sans One’, sans-serif

Project 6: Stationary

P6Letter-JoshBrown P6Card-JoshBrownLARGE P6Card-JoshBrown

Description: Creating a letter head and business card that match each other for a potential business.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):The program I used to create everything was illustrator, then I put them on indesign to export them. To create the logo I mainly used the shape tool. I got the shield shape by mapping a triangle over a shield I found offline. Then for the other shapes I looked at some examples online and mimicked them. The back of the Card is just supposed to be a design. I made it by making yellow bards and then creating a random pattern and then giving them a stroke and dividing them I was able to change the places where there was overlap to black. For the letter Head I put the logo I created in the upper left hand corner and then made a bar leading over to the other side with a pattern of Exclamation marks in it (Fibonacci  sequence). For the watermark on the letterhead I grabbed the design on the back of the card and made it about 15% transparent.

Message: The company Backdoor security is a computer security firm that specializes in all types of information security including end user, server and database.

Audience: Any company that is in need of cyber security.

Color scheme and color names: Triadic. Red Yellow cyan

  1. Description: Montage created with Photoshop.
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): I decided for this project to get a picture of a lighthouse that was a little darker and then apply a texture to the sky. Composition 2: Lead Room

I really liked taking pictures for this assignment. The first one was taken late last night out at the sand dunes. I set the camera to have a high ISO and a 30 Sec. Shutter speed and F.Stop of 0 so It would capture as much light as it could and I really liked what I got. The second picture I wanted to do with light I created so I aimed my two lamps and shot the fruit. The Foreground and background pictures were take in my backyard just to show the focusing effect. It would have been a good picture if there had been a squirrel.

For my composition pictures my wife and I went on a walk and I tried to set it up so she took up about two thirds on the left side of the picture and that the bank of the river is on another third line and a tree was on the other vertical third line. The Lead room picture was taken on a bridge I framed her head and where her eyes would be on a third line and set the trees on the other.
